The Iran Intellectual Property Organization examines applications in two stages in order to monitor applications properly. In the first step, which is called the preliminary examination, the application is formally examined in accordance with the patent laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Next, the patent examination is conducted in order to inquiry the requirements for eligibility of the invention, including novelty, inventive step and industrial application.
At each stage of the initial review or inquiry, the descriptive, claims or drawings could go under question. Inventors/assignees are therefore required to refer to the experts in the field for writing their patent applications, to modify their application, and to correct the defects.
